The SYNOXX EQD400-SR8 is a 400G QSFP-DD SR8 hot-pluggable optical transceiver delivering 400Gbps via 8×50G PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4-level) lanes at 850nm over OM4 multimode fiber to 100 meters — the active optical complement to the SYNOXX EDQD400 passive DAC cable series for 400G QSFP-DD deployments where passive copper reach (1m and 3m) is insufficient. Unlike passive DAC cables, the EQD400-SR8 contains VCSEL laser arrays and receiver photodetectors, enabling full 400G optical transmission over existing OM4 structured fiber infrastructure using the standard MPO-16/APC connector interface. The same 8×50G PAM4 modulation used in the EDQD400-1-PAM4 and EDQD400-3-PAM4 DAC cables is employed in the EQD400-SR8, ensuring architectural consistency across the SYNOXX 400G QSFP-DD product family.

Compliant with QSFP-DD MSA, CMIS 4.0, IEEE 802.3cm 400GBASE-SR8, and IEEE 802.3bs 400GAUI-8, the EQD400-SR8 includes Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) for real-time visibility of temperature, voltage, bias current, and optical power — enabling proactive fault detection and link monitoring without external test equipment. Power consumption is below 10W — significantly lower than alternative 400G optical approaches — and the module operates from 0°C to 70°C in a hot-pluggable QSFP-DD form factor compatible with all QSFP-DD-equipped 400G switching and compute platforms. Note: CMIS 4.0 compliance requires switch firmware supporting CMIS 4.0 management for full DDM and diagnostics functionality — confirm switch firmware version before deployment.
