The SYNOXX EQD400-FR4 is a 400G QSFP-DD FR4 hot-pluggable optical transceiver delivering 400Gbps over single-mode fiber (SMF) to 2km using PAM4 modulation across four CWDM optical channels at 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, and 1331nm — the campus edge and intra-site SMF reach class in the SYNOXX 400G QSFP-DD optical family. FR4 (CWDM4) architecture uses a DSP-based design to convert 8 electrical PAM4 lanes into 4 coarser CWDM optical wavelengths, enabling 2km SMF transmission at a lower cost point than the tighter WDM channel spacing required for 10km LR4 — making the EQD400-FR4 the correct choice for campus building-to-building 400G links, metro access ring connections, and any 400G deployment where 2km SMF reach is sufficient and LR4 10km capability is not required. Host FEC (Forward Error Correction) is required at the switch host port for full 2km operation — verify that your switch firmware and port configuration support Host FEC before deployment.

Compliant with QSFP-DD MSA, IEEE 802.3bs, and 400GAUI-8, the EQD400-FR4 features four confirmed CWDM4 wavelengths (1271/1291/1311/1331nm), DDM/DOM monitoring via I2C interface for real-time visibility of temperature, voltage, bias current, and optical power, and power consumption below 10W. Hot-pluggable in the standard QSFP-DD form factor, it is compatible across all QSFP-DD-equipped 400G switching platforms that support Host FEC — operating from 0°C to 70°C in data center, campus, and enterprise switching environments.
