Powerful Processing & Switching

At the core is a Qualcomm IPQ-8072A quad-core ARM 64-bit processor running at 2.2 GHz, paired with 1 GB of RAM and 128 MB of NAND flash. The 98DX226S switch chip provides true non-blocking Layer 2 hardware switching, with Layer 3 hardware offloading enabling wire-speed routing performance. Fast-path bridging tops out at approximately 4.9 Gbps and fast-path routing at the same level, making this a serious performer for hybrid L2/L3 environments. IPsec throughput on a single tunnel reaches over 1.2 Gbps, making it fully capable of handling VPN workloads.

16 Gigabit Ethernet Ports + 2× 10G SFP+

The CRS418 provides sixteen 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports in total, with eight of those (Ether9–Ether16) supporting 802.3af/at PoE-out — delivering up to 150W total PoE budget to connected devices such as access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, and other network-powered equipment. Two 10G SFP+ cages provide high-speed uplinks for connections to media servers, core switches, fast ISP fibre networks, or NAS storage — eliminating bandwidth bottlenecks at the aggregation layer.

Dual-Band 4×4 MIMO Wi-Fi 6

Unlike standard rackmount switches, the CRS418 Wi-Fi edition includes integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 4×4 MIMO on both bands. The 2.4 GHz radio (QCN-5024) delivers up to 1,148 Mbit/s, while the 5 GHz radio (QCN-5054) reaches up to 2,400 Mbit/s — bringing reliable, high-throughput wireless connectivity to basements, server rooms, and equipment closets where Wi-Fi coverage is typically an afterthought. External antennas ensure effective coverage beyond the rack itself.

Dual-Redundant Power Supplies

The device is fitted with two PSU slots accepting universal AC input (100–240V, 50–60Hz), providing redundant power for critical infrastructure deployments. Maximum power consumption under full load is 227W (43W without PoE or Wi-Fi loads). Active cooling is provided by four fans for reliable thermal management.

USB 3.0 & Additional Peripherals

A USB 3.0 Type-A port with USB power reset support enables connection of external storage for backups, logs, databases, or large file transfers. An RJ45 serial console port provides out-of-band management access. Onboard monitoring includes CPU temperature, PCB temperature, voltage, and current sensors for proactive hardware health management.
