MikroTik mAP 2.4GHz Micro Access Point Dual-Chain PoE Out Wi-Fi 4

The MikroTik mAP (RBmAP2nD) is a tiny, full-featured 2.4GHz wireless access point that packs dual-chain 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) wireless, two Ethernet ports, PoE output, and the complete MikroTik RouterOS feature set into an extremely compact 68 × 68 × 19 mm housing. Designed for discreet indoor installations where space is at a premium, the mAP supports three power input options — DC jack, 802.3af/at PoE, or microUSB — and can pass passive PoE through to a connected device on Ethernet port 2. Running RouterOS with a QCA9531 processor at 650 MHz and 64 MB of RAM, the mAP is well suited for hotel rooms, vehicles, small offices, or any location where a lightweight, versatile, low-power access point is needed.

The MikroTik mAP (micro Access Point) lives up to its name — it is one of the smallest RouterOS-powered wireless units in the MikroTik range, yet despite its miniature footprint it delivers a complete and fully configurable networking platform. Its combination of compact size, flexible powering, PoE output, and RouterOS makes it a uniquely versatile device for a wide range of deployment scenarios.

Wireless Performance

The mAP uses the QCA9531 chip to deliver dual-chain 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) wireless with a maximum data rate of 300 Mbit/s. The integrated antenna provides 1.2 dBi of gain. Receive sensitivity spans from -96 dBm at 1 Mbit/s to -71 dBm at MCS7, providing reliable connectivity for typical indoor ranges. The dual-chain design improves both throughput and link stability compared to single-chain alternatives.

Processing & Storage

The unit is powered by a QCA9531 processor running at 650 MHz on the MIPSBE architecture, with an integrated QCA9531-BL3A-R switch chip. RAM is 64 MB and storage is 16 MB FLASH. RouterOS is pre-installed and licensed — no additional software purchase is required. The full RouterOS feature set is available including routing, bridging, firewall, QoS, VPN, hotspot, and wireless management, all accessible via WinBox, WebFig, or CLI.

Ethernet & PoE

The mAP has two 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports. Ethernet port 2 supports passive PoE output at up to 0.5 A, allowing a downstream device such as a small camera or sensor to be powered directly from the mAP without a separate PoE injector. This makes the mAP a convenient single-cable solution for installations where both data and power need to be delivered to a connected device.

Flexible Powering

The mAP supports three separate power input methods: an 802.3af/at PoE input via the Ethernet port (12–57 V), a DC jack (8–57 V), and a microUSB port (5 V) — providing exceptional flexibility for installations in vehicles, hotel rooms, or other locations where specific power sources may be available. Maximum power consumption is just 5 W. Passive cooling keeps the unit silent and maintenance-free.

USB Peripheral Support

A microUSB Type AB port is included, supporting USB Power Reset. This can be used for attaching compatible USB peripherals or for powering the device.

Build & Installation

The mAP measures just 68 × 68 × 19 mm, making it one of the most discreet access points in the MikroTik lineup. It is designed for indoor use with a tested ambient temperature range of -20°C to 70°C. MTBF is approximately 100,000 hours at 25°C. On-board PCB temperature and voltage monitors provide health monitoring. The package includes a K-33 mounting kit, a 24V 0.8A power adapter, and a USB OTG cable.

Use Cases

The mAP is ideal for hotel room Wi-Fi deployments, in-vehicle wireless access points, small office or home office setups, IoT gateway installations, and any location where a tiny, low-power, dual-chain 2.4GHz access point with full RouterOS capabilities is needed. Its PoE output makes it particularly useful in scenarios where powering a secondary device from the same unit is desirable.
